I was very lucky to win this trip on Vocm's Cabin Party and my mom and I went last Sunday and Monday! It was the most awesome experience!The boat and house staff are sweet and very accommodating and the food was excellent! Portions very generous! The atmosphere was so relaxing and we found the tour of the Stone House fascinating! The kitchen party was great fun and the boat tour,boil up and picnic was fabulous! I will be singing your praises as everyone should experience this trip! Kudos to you all!
My husband and I went with another couple to Woody Island, and we all thoroughly enjoyed the trip. We were lucky enough to be the only ones from outside Newfoundland on the trip, and in fact many of the others were original Woody Islanders. We loved hearing their stories and finding out more about the experience of the people from Newfoundland's resettled communities. All of the staff, from skipper Gary to Elaine and the folks in the kitchen, to Dave the entertainer, were amazingly friendly and accommodating. We really enjoyed visiting the Stone House, where Elaine's husband gave us a great and informative tour. All in all, it was a step back in time, and a unique experience on our trip to Newfoundland. Highly recommended!
A unique and memorable experience for groups. A complete two-day package of lots of food, music, entertaining and friendly staff. Really nice to get off the beaten path and spend some time in Woody Island. There was also a couple of boat rides and a mug up with soup and sandwiches on the last day. Highly recommend. The staff at the resort are fabulous. Gary, Matt, Leona, and Dave made our trip. The hospitality is beyond great. You felt at home. The scenery is very beautiful. Going to make another trip, hopefully for 2 nights next time.
Absolutely beautiful place and an excellent way to spend a weekend being immersed in Newfoundland hospitality at a laid back pace. Excellent food and the staff were incredible. Would definitely recommend.
Woody Island is a fantastic place to get away from it all. From the moment you put your foot on the ferry until the moment you step back off the boat to return to the mainland, you set yourself up for a memorable escape from the everyday. The people are fantastic, the food is more than fantastic, and the rooms and houses are just like being in your own home 40 years ago. You feel like part of a big family rather than a guest in some Hotel. The food is Newfoundland cooking at its finest. Homemade bread, pea soup, fresh pan fried cod fish, potato turnip and carrot. Just like going home to Mom's for the weekend. You are free to explore the beautiful wooded Island on your own. There is a beautiful sandy beach for the summertime, and row boats to work off some of that good hearty eating you've been doing. It was my first time to Woody Island, but it will not be my last. If you need some time away to just cut yourself off and relax, this is the place to go.
From start to finish, this was a top notch experience! The staff were amazing; friendly, helpful, and always smiling. The food was always hot and delicious. The boat rides and day trip were great. The accomodations were clean and comfortable. We had amazing weather. Can't wait to return!
It was such a fun experience. The kitchen party was my very favourite part. The staff was incredible and the owners are such wonderful people. A nice balance of enough to do and wnough time to relax. I enjoyed that it was a rustic environment. The beauty of the land is worth the trip!
